Salmon Fishing Report

Lanny Cutsforth of Pistol River and Tom Henny of Roseburg took in another day of salmon trolling and landed 2 fish on their October 1st fishing trip. That makes a total of 13 salmon + 1 jack during their 4 days of fishing with me in the last 9 days!  Their latest catch weighed 23 lbs. and 9 lbs.  Their Sept. 24th 36 pound salmon was last month's catch of the month.  A whole lot of fishing action for these guys!

Salmon Fishing in Oregon

Catching their limit by noon, Lanny Cutsforth of Pistol River and Tom Henny of Roseburg landed 5 fish on their Sept. 30th Rogue River fishing trip.  In addition to a jack, their salmon trolling efforts resulted in fish weighing 12, 13, 14 and 24 pounds.  A busy morning of Oregon coast fishing!

Oregon Rogue River Fishing

Richard & Dixie Duffey from Tucson, Arizona posts a productive day during their Sept. 26th fishing trip.  Their catch included Rogue River salmon weighing 35, 30, 30 and 25 pounds.  Another great day of Oregon salmon trolling!

Fall Rogue River Salmon Trolling

It's more than a double take!  Lanny Cutsforth of Pistol River and Tom Henry of Roseburg caught 3 salmon  (24, 17 and 12 lbs.) on their Sept. 23rd fishing trip, then out-did themselves with 4 more salmon (36, 33, 25 and 24 lbs.) on their fishing trip the next day!  That's just good, productive two days of Rogue River salmon fishing!

Caught Their Limit

Dave and Francine Lekki of Brownsvile, OR, landed four salmon weighing 28, 26, 16 and 7 lbs. while trolling during their Sept. 12th fishing trip.  They made an early day of it, limiting out with their salmon catch by 10:15 a.m.  Great Action!

Salmon Trolling

The Howery family enjoyed a productive day trolling at the mouth of the Rogue River.  Norm, Marlene and Todd hauled in salmon weighing 31, 29 and 16 pounds during their September 10th fishing trip.

Rogue River Summer Salmon Derby

The annual Summer Salmon Derby is organized by Curry Sport Fishing and the Gold Beach Rotary to benefit the Sea Lion program. This is a highly competitive event attracting anglers from all over the coast.

 

 

And The Winner Is . . .

 

 

Don Silva of Gold Beach landed a 36 pound salmon while fishing with me during the annual Rogue River Summer Salmon Derby on August 27th. Don's first place finish for the largest fish in the derby also netted him a $500 prize (donated by Virginia McKinney of Jot's Resort), and the prestigious derby plaque which he generously gave to me.

Also fishing with Don during the derby was Gil Rothweiler of Los Gatos and Joe Madruga (not pictured)  of San Jose.  In addition to Don's winning fish, they caught three other salmon weighing 10, 14 and 18 pounds.  A productive day of fishing!
